About the Teachers

Mark Coleman leads wilderness retreats from Alaska to Peru, integrating mindfulness meditation with nature. He is an author, psychotherapist, life coach, and mindfulness consultant to corporations, and a teacher at Spirit Rock Meditation Center in California.

Sebene Selassie received a BA from McGill University and an MA from the New School, where she focused on Buddhism, Hinduism, cultural studies, and race. She is a mindfulness coach and the author of You Belong: A Call for Connection. A native of Ethiopia, Selassie lives in Brooklyn, New York.

Barry Boyce is Founding Editor of Mindful and Mindful.org. A longtime meditation practitioner and teacher, he is the editor of and a primary contributor to The Mindfulness Revolution: Leading Psychologists, Scientists, Artists, and Meditation Teachers on the Power of Mindfulness in Daily Life. He is board chair of the Foundation for a Mindful Society and serves on the board of the Centre for Mindfulness Studies in Toronto and the advisory board of Peace in Schools, in Portland, Oregon. His longtime friend and collaborator Peter Good is a horticulturist, arborist, landscaper, and gardener who divides his time between his home in San Francisco and the UK, where he trained at Kew Gardens and in traditional English hedge-laying.

Dacher Keltner is a professor of psychology at University of California, Berkeley, and the faculty director of the Greater Good Science Center. He is the author of The Power Paradox: How We Gain and Lose Influence.

Kelly Barron is a freelance writer in Los Angeles and a former associate editor and staff writer for Forbes magazine. She is a mindfulness instructor for eMindful Inc. and also teaches mindfulness for UCLA's Mindful Awareness Research Center.

Christopher Willard, PsyD, is a psychologist and educational consultant based in Boston, specializing in mindfulness for adolescents and young adults. He has been practicing meditation for over fifteen years. He currently serves on the board of directors at the Institute for Meditation and Psychotherapy and the Mindfulness in Education Network. Dr. Willard has published five books on contemplative practice and is the coauthor of The Breathing Book with Olivia Weisser. He teaches at Harvard Medical School.

Elaine Smookler has been a mindful practitioner for over 20 years and is on the faculty at The Centre for Mindfulness Studies in Toronto. She is a Registered Psychotherapist and teaches mindfulness to corporate clients through eMindful. She's also a comedic writer and performer and is the singing host of Mindful Martinis, a cabaret/mindfulness class mash up.
